Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has announced his decision to withdraw from all reconciliation agreements previously reached within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent betrayal, dishonesty, and violations of internal agreements by key party stakeholders.
In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, Wike said the PDP has been plagued by instability since the 2023 general elections, attributing the crisis to “dishonesty and lack of trust” among leaders.
He accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of being the “architect of the party’s problems” due to alleged disregard for earlier agreements.
Wike explained that several high-level meetings were held in Lagos and Abuja to address the internal wrangling, including one at former Senate President Bukola Saraki’s guest house, which was attended by Governors Bala Mohammed, Umaru Fintiri, and Makinde, among others.
He noted that these meetings resulted in resolutions affirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary and calling for the withdrawal of all legal suits related to Rivers State and a proposed state of emergency.
However, Wike expressed disappointment that the agreements were “crude[ly] violated” before any reconciliation work could begin. He alleged that Makinde and Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, had worked behind the scenes to push for Ude Okoye as Secretary and used party officials to challenge the legitimacy of Senator Anyanwu.

He further claimed that efforts to undermine the agreed structure of the party led to the cancellation of the PDP North-Central zonal congress in Jos, after INEC refused to attend due to improper documentation signed by the Deputy National Secretary instead of the recognized National Secretary.
“I have been in this party since 1998 and have worked tirelessly for its survival,” Wike stated. “It is now obvious that they would continue to play games to the detriment of the party. I have now firmly decided to pull out of all agreements hitherto reached. I have decided to fight until justice is attained.”
Wike’s declaration signals deeper fractures within the PDP as it struggles to stabilize its internal leadership and present a united front ahead of upcoming elections.
