Gov Yusuf lauds teaching of Chinese, French in Kano colleges

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has lauded the teaching of Chinese and French languages at the colleges in Kwankwaso town, Madobi Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, stated that the governor gave the commendation during an unscheduled visit to the schools.

The colleges were established during the second tenure of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso as Governor, with the vision of nurturing home-grown linguists proficient in French and Mandarin.

He added that Governor Yusuf expressed deep dissatisfaction with the deteriorated condition of the facilities, attributing it to prolonged neglect and lack of proper maintenance.

The Governor immediately issued a directive to the relevant ministries to commence full renovation and comprehensive overhaul of the colleges to ensure safety, security, and a conducive learning environment.

In a bid to further encourage excellence and international exposure, Governor Yusuf also pledged state-sponsored scholarships for the best graduating students of both colleges to pursue further studies in China and France.

He noted that such opportunities would not only enable the beneficiaries to reach their full potential but also position them as global citizens who can contribute meaningfully to Kano’s socio-economic development.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the strategic importance of Mandarin and French to Kano’s identity as a major commercial hub in Sub-Saharan Africa, stressing the need to equip youth with globally relevant skills.

In separate remarks, two outstanding students—Muhammad Bawa and Muhammad Warawa—commended Governor Yusuf’s visit, describing it as timely and impactful.
