Ogunjimi seeks UK ICAN partnership on treasury academy

The Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Shemeldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has solicited professional collaboration and support from the United Kingdom District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for the development of the National Treasury Academy in Orozo, Abuja.

Ogunjimi made the appeal while receiving a delegation from the UK ICAN District, led by its Chairman, Mr. Akintayo Ojo, FCNA, during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

He underscored the importance of aligning the Academy with global standards, expressing optimism that such collaboration would enhance its capacity to become a center of excellence in public financial management and accounting.

The Accountant General urged the delegation to leverage their expertise in accounting principles and international best practices to support the Academy’s growth.

He reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the institution into a first-class center for training and capacity development in Nigeria’s public finance sector.

Dr. Ogunjimi also assured the delegation of the participation of Treasury staff in the upcoming UK ICAN Conference scheduled for early March 2026.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the UK ICAN District, Mr. Akintayo Ojo, commended Dr. Ogunjimi for his consistent support and dedication, noting that his contributions had greatly aided the District’s achievements.

Mr. Ojo also gave updates on preparations for the District’s 35th Annual Conference, slated for early March 2026, and extended an invitation to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to attend the event.
