Bayero University, Kano (BUK), is set to tackle its long-standing staff accommodation deficit through a 500-housing unit project in collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, announced the plan during the 2nd Registry Roundtable Discussion at the Senate Chamber, describing it as one of the university’s most ambitious infrastructure undertakings.
According to him, discussions with FMBN have reached advanced stages, with a memorandum of understanding MoU expected soon to launch the initiative.

“This project is designed to ensure decent and affordable housing for our staff, a challenge that has lingered for decades,” Musa said, adding that the intervention would significantly boost staff morale and productivity.
The housing scheme is one of the first major programmes unveiled by Professor Musa less than a month after assuming office as vice-chancellor.
