Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has launched the distribution of fertilizer for the 2025 farming season, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity and support local farmers...
Speaking at the flag-off on Thursday, Governor Yahaya disclosed that the state government has procured a total of 10,000 tons of NPK 20:10:10 fertiliser at the cost of N44,000 per bag, which will be sold to farmers at a subsidised rate of N27,000 per bag, a 60 per cent discount, to ease their financial burden and ensure access to essential inputs.
He said timely access to fertiliser is critical to increasing crop yields, strengthening food security and fostering economic growth in the state.
Governor Yahaya also directed the State Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives, in collaboration with security agencies to strictly monitor the sales and distribution process to prevent diversion and ensure that the fertilisers reach the targeted beneficiaries, particularly grassroots farmers.
