Hadejia Jama’are embarks on Maintenance, Canal De-silting, flood control

Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority have embarked on measures for flood control and maintenance activities at one of its dams.

The Managing Director of Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Alh. Rabiu Seleiman Bichi FNIQS, who visited the Kaban irrigation scheme in Jigawa said he was there to supervise ongoing typha grass clearance, canal de-silting, and other flood and erosion control measures vital to the sustainability of the irrigation infrastructure.

He directed the immediate assessment and repair of the equipment to ensure full functionality and efficiency, thereby accelerating the progress of the ongoing work.

Additionally, the Managing Director inspected other critical areas, including the HVIRS office and the Hadejia Barrage, to evaluate the progress of flood control measures and infrastructural integrity.

The visit according to the spokesperson of Hadejia Jama’are, Salisu B Hamzat underscores the organization’s commitment to enhancing irrigation efficiency, flood management, and erosion control in Jigawa State.

He reaffirmed the leadership dedication to implementing sustainable solutions that will benefit local communities and support agricultural productivity in the region.

Those who accompanied the Managing Director include; the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Jigawa State Dr Nura Mohd; the Director of Construction unit Engr. Umar Ibrahim Langel; the Deputy Director Civil Engr. Sabiu Dan Malan.

Others were, Assistant Director Mechanical Engr. Ibrahim Hamza Ahmed; the Project Manager Hadejia Valley Irrigation Scheme (HVIS) Engr. Muhammad Abdullahi; and the Special Advisor to the Jigawa State Governor on Flood Control Malam Hamza Hadejia.
