The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna has officially been designated as the alternative airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, made the announcement during the inaugural flight of Overland Airways from the Minna airport.
Keyamo praised the airport’s infrastructure and strategic location, stating that it meets the standards of any international airport globally.
“This runway is built to international specifications — capable of handling aircraft like the Boeing 747 and the Triple Seven. It’s baffling that such a facility has been underutilized for so long,” he said.
He emphasized the government’s renewed focus on the airport, declaring: “By the powers vested in me, I hereby declare the Minna airport as the official alternative to the Abuja airport. NCAA and FAAN, take note.”
