The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a recovery of ₦100 million draft to the Federal Ministry of Solid Mineral Development in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The recovery, made from defaulting mining companies in the state, was presented on Friday by the Uyo Zonal Director of the EFCC, Assistant Commander Oshodi Johnson, on behalf of the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

Oshodi said the recovery underscored the Commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability in asset recovery.

He noted that stronger synergy between federal ministries and the EFCC, especially in information sharing, would lead to more impactful results.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg. The Commission will continue to recover every government kobo that is hanging anywhere. We are still investigating and will make bigger recoveries in this sector and beyond,” he said.

Receiving the draft on behalf of the ministry, the Federal Mines Officer in charge of Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Effiong Bassey, commended the EFCC for its diligence.

He described the mining sector as critical to Nigeria’s economic stability and called for deeper collaboration to ensure greater recoveries.

Oshodi also praised the ministry for providing actionable intelligence that aided the recovery, reaffirming the EFCC’s resolve to sustain cooperation with government agencies to track and recover public funds.
