Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend presidential honours to 17-year-old Nigerian student, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, for her exceptional academic achievement on the global stage.
Recall that, Nafisa, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe State, recently emerged as the overall best in English Language at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, beating over 20,000 participants from 69 countries including native English-speaking nations.
Pantami, reacting to widespread praise of her feat, said Nafisa’s triumph deserves the same high-level recognition and reward as Nigeria’s female football and basketball teams, who were recently awarded $100,000 each, three-bedroom apartments, and national honours following their victories.

“If our sports champions are celebrated with such honour, then Nafisa who brought glory to Nigeria through intellect and academic brilliance deserves no less,” he said. “A $100,000 reward, a home, and national recognition should be granted not only to her but also to her English teacher, just as we honour coaches in sports.”
The former minister said Nafisa’s win reflects the untapped academic talent within the country and called on the government to elevate education to the same level of national pride as sports.
“She’s not just the pride of Yobe State, she’s the pride of Nigeria. Honouring her publicly will inspire countless young Nigerians to pursue academic excellence,” Pantami stated.
He concluded by calling on the Presidency to invite Nafisa and her teacher for national recognition, emphasizing that both sports and education are powerful tools for promoting national image and unity.
