Just in : Former President Buhari laid to rest in Daura

The remains of President Muhammadu Buhari have been laid to rest at his residence in Daura, his home town in Katsina State.

The body, which left the United Kingdom earlier on Tuesday, was received the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina by President Bola Tinubu.

Daily Trust had earlier reported that the body would be first brought into the residence for his immediate family members and close relatives to bid him final farewell.

After some moments at the residence, the hearse conveyed Buhari’s remains to the prayer ground.

President Tinubu arrived at the airport from Abuja at 1:42 p.m. and inspected a guard of honour before the Nigerian Air Force plane conveying the remains of his predecessor landed at exactly 1:51 p.m.

Former President Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital.
