Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello has been named the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate, following the passing of his father, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who died on July 25, 2025, after a ten-year reign.
The appointment was approved by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada.
The selection, Nakwada noted, was based on the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers, in line with long-standing traditions and legal procedures.

Until his appointment, Abdulkadir Bello held the title of Bunun Gusau and is the eldest son of the late monarch. He also traces his lineage to the esteemed Islamic scholar and community leader, Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa, further deepening his connection to the Emirate’s historical roots.
Governor Lawal, in his message of congratulations, called on the new Emir to preserve the dignified legacy of his forebears while embracing the responsibilities of fostering peace, unity, and progress within the Emirate and beyond.
