Former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has paid tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday.

Adeosun, who served as Minister of Finance from August 2015 following her appointment by Buhari, expressed her condolences in a heartfelt message shared via her Facebook page on Tuesday.

“It was the greatest honour to serve Nigeria under your leadership and a pleasure knowing you personally. Rest in Peace Sir,” she wrote.

She concluded her message with, “I remain, Mai kudi.” — a nickname fondly given to her by the late president, meaning “someone who has money” or a financier.

Opening her tribute with a farewell, Adeosun wrote: “Good night, Your Excellency.”

The post has since drawn emotional reactions from Nigerians, with many commending the former minister for her tribute and recalling her contributions during Buhari’s administration.

One commenter, George Pamma, described Adeosun as a national asset, stating: “NYSC or not, Kemi Adeosun is a national treasure. Her policies should be a course taught in our universities if we were smart as a people.”

Babatunde Ayantola also praised her service during Buhari’s tenure, saying: “Kemi, you served under him with honour and integrity. May the Almighty Allah grant him Aljanah Firdous aameen.”

Similarly, Abubakar Sadiq Alkubawi hailed Adeosun as a knowledgeable public servant, while Prince Bon-Malik lauded her professionalism during her time in office.

“Indeed, an exceptional professional you were, but for our detractors, again. We’ll look forward to the future when you’ll bring your wealth of professionalism to bear!” he wrote.

“Until then, let’s together mourn our dear mentor, baba, and hero. May he find comfort and easiness as he journeys to the great beyond.”
